Notes:

  1. Washed sod or specified seeding system. Either:

Seed plus 1/2 in. Netlon R200 topping (effectively ATS200 without the mesh)
Sprigs/stolons plus 1/2 in Netlon R200 topping
Washed sod
  1. The need for slit drains will depend on the inherent drainage of the subgrade and their spacing will depend upon the location and intended use. Typical spacing will be three to five feet. Advice is available from your local Netlon Advanced Turf distributor.

  2. For constructions where an aggregate base is not required, the drainage trenches and slits should be filled with 1/8 to 1/4 in washed, non-calcareous gravel. Coarser drainage gravel may be used, e.g. 1/2 inch but this must be blinded with two inches of coarse sand to avoid the rootzone being washed into the gravel.

  3. Aggregate base thickness to be determined from the table and to comply with ASTM 2940 except in areas of high rainfall where the percentage of fine material to be limited to % passing ASTM sieve #30 = 0 to 10% and sieve #200 = 0 to 5%.

  4. Gravel for drainage trenches below the sub-base to be a washed 1/2 in aggregate.

  5. Sub-grade to be a suitable growing medium, adequately drained and cultivated to a depth of six inches then firmed with a non-vibrating roller.

  6. Subgrade to be adequately drained and compacted in accordance with specifications for highways works.

  7. Compact the aggregate base in accordance with specifications for highways works.

  8. An economical alternative may be to reduce the thickness of the granular fill by reinforcing it with Tensar BX geogrids (design advice available for your local Netlon Advanced Turf distributor).

  9. Boundaries may be identified using posts or plants.
