Netlon Advanced Turf
Product Specification

Netlon Advanced Turf is comprised of:

mm thick layer of Netlon ATS rootzone. A compacted layer of pre-blended rootzone material, being a mixture of sand, soil, organic material and Netlon mesh elements at an inclusion rate of 5 kg/m3.

The thickness and the rootzone type shall be determined from Netlon's published Design guidance notes or using advice from the local Advanced Turf Distributor.

The Netlon mesh elements shall have the following properties:

Polymer Polypropylene homopolymer
Density 0.905 - 0.908g/cm3
Element Size 100mm x 50mm
Mesh Pitch 10mm + 2mm - 1mm
Tensile Strength 3.3kN/m width (both longitudinal and transverse directions)
Junction Strength Not less than 50% of the mesh strand strength
Flexural Recovery The mesh shall have high flexural recovery, not less than 95%
15mm thick layer of sand topping.
Topping sand shall be obtained from Netlon's published Design guidance notes or using advice from the local Advanced Turf Distributor.

Establishment fertilizer at label rates

Seed/pre-germinated seed/sprigs/plantlets/washed turf* of amenity type grass mix (unless other specifically required

*delete as appropriate (advice available from the local Advanced Turf distributor)

The system shall be installed in accordance with guidance notes provided by Netlon Limited or the local Advanced Turf Distributor.

Note to Specifier:
This specification does not include provision or preparation of materials below the Netlon Advanced Turf rootzone or the maintenance and aftercare of the turf. These must be specified separately. Advice can be obtained from the local Advanced Turf Distributor.

Specification for Netlon R200 rootzone
(Nominal 80:20 sand soil blend)

LSP09/31.3.98

Netlon R200 rootzones are formulated from soil modified sands.

Sand selection
The sand shall comply with the following particle size distribution limits.

Gradation index:

D90 within the range 2 – 3.5
D10

Mean particle size:

D50 within the range 200Tm – 450Tm

Lime content:

<5% by weigh

Soil selection
The soil shall be light topsoil classified as a loamy sand or sandy loam. Fensoil shall not be used. The soil shall be shredded and passed through a 4mm screen. The following limitations should also apply after screening:

Stone content:

Less than 10% > 2mm

Organic content:

2% - 10% by weight (1.01)

PH:

4 to 7

Rootzone parameters
Key parameters when tested under the 1993 USGA testing protocol (40cm tension):

Total porosity:
Aeration porosity:
Capillary porosity:
Bulk density:
Water retention:
Hydraulic conductivity:
Organic matter:
PH:

35% - 55%
20%-30%
15%-25%
1.2 - 1.7g/crn3
12%-20%
50 - 200mm/hr
0.7% - 3% (LOI)
5.5 - 7.5

Rootzone particle size distribution
The particle size distribution should also meet the following requirements:

i)

D50 = 200 – 300mm

ii)

4 – 10% <125mm

iii)

D90 = 2 – 4
D
10

Mixing and storage
The screened soil shall be kept covered prior to blending.

Blending operations must not be carried out during periods of rainfall as this can adversely affect the rootzone properties. All materials must be stockpiled on a clean surface free from stones or other debris.
